Great Retorts to Web Design Client Requests

You know the drill…you worked hard on a fabulous design and now it’s time to unveil the project to the client. Your heart and soul is wrapped up in the presentation, but the client hits you with something like “but I’d rather have the icon in cornflower blue.”
Eric Karjaluoto’s blog ideasonideas has a great […]

www.LeonardWho.com is getting a complete overhaul. I’m 90% done with the overall design (my first from-scratch WordPress theme) and just working out the video compression/delivery kinks. Stay tuned for a whole new “Leonard Who?” show!

An open question to all SEO-ers out there…
Is Network Solutions correct when the make the blanket statement “Search engines perceive domain names registered for 5 years or longer to be more legitimate than domain names registered for a shorter term, and therefore rank them more highly.” or are they just trying to upsell us […]

What are you worth Mr. Freelancer?

Found a great little tool on FreelanceSwitch.com that helps you calculate your hourly rate based on a bunch of factors. Apparently I’m supposed to charge about $40 an hour. Of course, I just randomly plugged in numbers and don’t do freelance work but hey, pretty neat nonetheless.

New Theme. New Focus. Okay, A New Theme At Least.

Just installed the Blue Zinfandel Squared 2.0 Wordpress theme by Brain Gardner. Great theme–simple with just the right amount of polish.
I did have to make a couple tweaks to get it perfect though. Posts in the Archives page(s) were using <?php the_excerpt(__(’Read more’));?>, so I changed that to <?php the_content(__(’Read more’));?><div style=”clear:both;”></div> to get the […]

Specifications for Apple TV Video Podcast Formats and Resolutions

I just received an email from Apple, Inc. with a request to increase the format of my video podcasts to 640 pixels by 320 pixels. This comes at a great time since me and my father are preparing a new series of vidcasts. This could be a HUGE benefit to podcast producers everywhere. Imagine your […]

WordPress 2.1 Ate My WYSIWYG

Have you recently upgraded to WordPress 2.1? Are you unable to see the visual editor (or WYSIWYG for us old-schoolers)? Are you going mad with frustration because you had the visual editor feature in previous versions but can’t get it to work now?
So was I. Until I did this (click for larger image):

Hope that helps […]
