Pictures From Around Town

ANOTHER UPDATE: I’m getting a lot of feedback on the Magic Johnson Showtime Barbeque Sauce. Some folks out there really like the stuff apparently so I picked up a couple bottles and will document my cooking with it. For those who want to know, here’s the contact info for the company that distributes the sauce:

Celebrity Foods FX, LLC
Pasadena, CA 91101

But a futher search also revealed this info:
3350 Shelby St, Ontario, CA 91764-4882, United States (map)

Phone: (909) 944-2591

and yet more searching revealed this address:

1800 CENTURY PARK EAST #600
LOS ANGELES, CA 90067

Now their internet site is listed as:

www.celebrityfoodsfx.com

but when I tried to access the site I was met with an “Account Suspended” error as seen in the graphic below:

UPDATE: Just stopped by the same store where I took the photo of the Showtime BBQ Sauce a couple weeks ago. Same number of bottles are there. All have a rather thick layer of dust on them. Poor Magic.

Spotted a few things this week that I thought I’d share.

First up its Magic Johnson’s “Showtime” Barbeque Sauce. Yep, old #32 is now hocking the BBQ. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a point guard make a great assist and say “damn, I need me some BBQ sauce baby!”

Next is a little gem I found in an antique store in Old Town Orange. Label reads “Genuine GAY Product. Pencils.” Then, just to make sure you didn’t miss anything, “A GUARANTEED GAY PRODUCT”. These pencils were prominently displayed on a countertop right when you entered the store so you couldn’t miss them.

Gay Pencils

Speaking of gay. What’s up with Mr. Clean these days? I mean, he was always a little “mysterious” but now I’m not so sure about him…

The BBQ sauce might soon be seen on the TV show “Where are they now?” right along side Mr. Clean!

I bought a couple of bottles of the stuff last year at a damaged foods store; it was my absolute favorite BBQ sauce, I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since, and I didn’t have the forethought to write down the name of the company that made it or its website.

If you stop by that store again, if you could write down the manufacture of the sauce and the website (if it has one) and send it to me I’d greatly appreciate it.

If anyone finds out where or how to purchase the Showtime BBQ sauce, please let me know. Mine is almost gone and it is the best I’ve evertasted out of a bottle

I agree! Damned good sauce coming from a bottle! Just looked up the website on the bottle (www.celebrityfoodsfx.com), and got an “account suspended” message. Closer examination and investigation seems to indicate that the sauce chef is Damon K Stalworth, who runs a small chain of rib joints in California. Their website menu notes BBQ sauce to go, but it is kinda pricey, at $2.95/pint and $4.95/quart… I wish I would run into a case or two of this! Actually, I wish some mainstream foods producer (Kraft, Heinz, etc.) would start mass-producing it!!!
