Had a couple strange occurances today. The day started out morbid and a bit scary on the drive to work. Going about 55 mph on Santiago Canyon Road I suddenly see the car next to me come to a screeching halt in the left turn lane. Then, I slam on the brakes as I see a woman walking across the road against a red light. I check my rear view mirror to see if I’m going to get hit from behind and worry about hitting the woman, who I now see is trying to retrieve a dead dog from the road. Luckily for all of us the cars behind me reacted in time and we all came to a stop in time to watch this lady, staring only at the dog and never once looking to see if cars were coming, drag the dead dog across all lanes of traffic by all four of its legs.
Then, as I neared the office I see a large semi truck carrying flammable oxygen make a fast U-turn on a narrow street just in front of me. I couldn’t even believe the truck was able to turn around on that street, let alone do it as fast as he did. A moment later the same type of truck pulls out of an oxygen supply facility and blocks the entire road, causing both me and the other oxygen truck to stop dead in our tracks. I started to get a bit nervous with all this flammable crap around me and then a third tanker starts to pull out in between all of us. The driver of the truck that had made the quick U-turn jumps out of his cab and starts yelling at the other driver who just pulled out into the middle of the pack. I didn’t know what the hell was going on and luckily the truck blocking the road backed up far enough for me to scoot around and get out of there.
I was glad to get to the office without any further incidents…
