Enough people were curious after my previous post that I decided to give away the secret formula. Okay, its definitely not a secret and its not much of a formula, but it worked and here are the steps I took to get the #1 spot in Google for the term “internet studliness” within six days of posting at Smarfy.com and within only 8 days of getting the web site online.
- Find a key phrase with fewer than 1,000 Google results (as of this writing “internet studliness” produces only 569 results)
- Put the key term in your page at least once (seriously, I only had the phrase in the body of my original post once)
- Submit the key term you’re looking for to the Urban Dictionary
- Submit your post/page to Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us, and most importantly StumbleUpon
- Start using Twitter. Get your friends on Twitter and let your friends know about your post/page.
- Write new content like crazy. Google loves fresh content. I wrote at least one post a day as soon as the site was launched and continue to do so.
Good luck with your terms and Google rankings. Give me a shout and let me know how you do with your phrases!

Actually, according to the Google SERP I’m looking at right now, you’re number 2 for Internet studliness. A twitter page with the words internet studliness is currently #1.
I think you’ll drop in the SERP though in the next coming days unless you get traffic to pull through on that term.
Yeah Joy, I know I dropped off the radar to the #2 Google result about a week after I hit #1. I agree that this site will drop in the SERP (search engine results page) over the coming weeks, but some folks thought it was funny that I got the #1 spot so quick and wanted to know how I made that happen. Honestly, this was a completely fluke, but I’m going to try to build upon these steps and add other methods to see if I can get high rankings with good, unique content. Hope it works!
Anyone else having similar results with their key terms? Would love to about it :)
